Theory and Practice of Impact Evaluation (102M9)

Spring teaching

On this module, you'll learn about the elements of impact evaluation approaches and methods of development programmes. 

Impact evaluation methods are presented together with sessions on theory-based approaches and practical issues of evaluation management.

You'll work in groups to identify a real-life development programme to evaluate. Lectures will be followed by group-work sessions in which you'll learn how to build the components of a full evaluation design.

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 18 hours of contact time and about 132 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2024/25.
