Multisectoral Responses to Crises and Vulnerability (903N1)

Spring teaching

This module looks at:

  • how crises are linked to fair development and how policies and programs respond to these crises
  • the impact of violent conflict, climate change, pandemics, and economic crises on poverty, vulnerability, and people's strategies for survival and livelihood
  • the key ways to respond to these crises through policies, programs, and the work of international institutions, NGOs, and community-driven initiatives, with a focus on whether these responses are fair
  • the latest research and real-world case studies from countries affected by crises, focusing on how to respond to these challenges in ways that promote fairness and resilience.

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 18 hours of contact time and about 132 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2024/25.
