Public Finance: How governments raise and spend money (965M9)

15 credits, Level 7 (Masters)

Spring teaching

In this module we explore the opportunities and challenges governments face when raising revenue from three main sources:

  • taxation,
  • borrowing
  • aid.

We'll look at how the budgeting process helps decide how resources are prioritized and distributed. We'll also explore important issues that impact public financial management, like climate change, digital technology, and decentralization. The module brings together different perspectives, combining technical, economic, and political views on these topics.
