Environmental Perspectives on Development (L2103)

Spring teaching

On this module, you'll examine some of the biggest environmental problems facing the world today and their root causes. You'll explore how these issues are experienced differently around the world and investigate the relationships between the environment and development. You'll:

  • discuss historical perspectives on environment and development, highlighting continuities and changes in policies
  • explore key environmental questions, such as the impact of population change and how global food systems affect the environment
  • discover approaches to reducing global carbon emissions.

By the end of this module, you'll have a deeper understanding of the interconnected nature of environmental and developmental challenges.

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 22 hours of contact time and about 128 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology.
