The East Slope, Stanmer Court and Bramber House receptions are open 24/7 during the festive break.

Northfield, Lewes Court, and Swanborough receptions are closed after Friday 20 December, and will reopen on Thursday 2 January 2025.

Kings Road reception will remain open overnight only during the festive break, and will be closed during the day. 

The 24/7 residential reception is located at Bramber House, opposite the Student Centre.

24/7 residential services are available at East Slope and Stanmer Court, and overnight support is available at Kings Road. All other residences please contact the Bramber House reception at 01273 67 8323 for urgent out-of-hours support.

Information about SEF for residents

Sussex Estates and Facilities (SEF) are responsible for providing general services for living in University-managed accommodation, including cleaning, portering, maintenance, and security.

For most issues and enquiries, your porter is available at your local reception during the day. For general non-urgent issues such as repairs, maintenance, cleaning etc., your porter should be your first point of contact - they will record and investigate your issue and ensure that it is resolved as quickly as possible.

Your porter is also responsible for your mail, which can be found in mailboxes in the porter's lodge. For more information regarding your porter and mail services, consult our postal services page, or see below for the general address of each University residence. The operating times for porters can be found below.

Please do not contact the Service Centre to report an issue in residences, as your porter will assist with the issue instead.

Emergencies

If you have a problem when out-of-hours, we also have a 24-hour Residential Reception in Bramber House you can contact. If you have a maintenance emergency (e.g. a flood or a power outage), then call ext. 7777 (01273 87 7777), or your porter if living off-campus.

If you have another emergency that cannot wait until the morning, call Security on 01273 (87) 3333, or call 999 if living off-campus. For more information on who to contact in an emergency, consult the emergencies page.

Residential porter contacts

All residential issues (e.g. maintenance and repair) need to be taken to your porter/reception in the first instance. Repairs and maintenance will be carried out in line with our escalation process.

Residential receptions are open during the following hours. Only emergency requests will be dealt with outside of these hours.

When sending mail to campus residents, you must preface with the recipients' full name, and their specific flat/building and room number to help us quickly store your package for collection. Please ensure that the specific campus address is included, especially when autofilling on websites such as Amazon using the relevant postcode.
