Good COP/Bad COP? Accelerating climate action from above and below - 7 November 2022
As the world gathers at the annual Climate Conference of Parties in Egypt to discuss responses to the climate emergency, we ask, where are there ‘signs of hope’ in the climate talks and beyond–in action by cities, business, civil society and communities to bring about the rapid and just transitions so urgently required. How can action from above and below complement each other to drive transformative climate action?

SSRP Day - 9 November 2022
The main event of the week, ‘SSRP Day’ on 9 November, officially launched SSRP’s Phase II and included a speaker event with university representatives, SSRP researchers and external guests, including our new VC Sasha Roseneil, Deputy Pro-VCs for Research, Member of Parliament for Brighton Kemptown Lloyd Russell-Moyle and Prof Joyeeta Gupta, co-Chair of the Earth Commission and Professor at the University of Amsterdam and IHE Delft Institute for Water Education, Netherlands. The release of the university’s annual sustainability performance report was also announced alongside SSRP’s Phase II launch, followed by an audio-visual exhibition featuring videos, photos, soundscapes from Sussex sustainability research around the world, SSRP’s annual research symposium and a networking drinks reception.
