The module introduces you to the practical and methodological aspects of ethnographic research. The module teaches you to design and conduct an independent ethnographic research project around a key anthropological theme. This allows you to reflect on and apply the theoretical and practical insights gained in the course of your degree. You are guided and supported in:
- formulating your own research question
- designing a methodology
- conducting ethnographic research
- writing up your findings in a final report.
The module develops your ability to apply your theoretical knowledge of research methodology to a specific research project.

- Ability to evaluate epistemological, methodological and ethical issues involved in ethnographic research.
- Ability to relate an understanding of particular theories to the empirical inquiry.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others, and present research findings in different written formats.
