Terms and conditions
The Sanctuary Scholarships were previously called the Article 26 Scholarships, named after Article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which states: ‘Everyone has the right to education’. In recognition of the University's status as a University of Sanctuary, these were renamed the Sanctuary Scholarships in 2024.
Sanctuary Scholarship holders are eligible for continuation of housing for the duration of their studies. Receiving continuation of housing as a Sanctuary scholar is subject to checks and any application will be assessed to ensure that it is appropriate for the University to allocate accommodation.
Maintenance payments are not intended to cover additional costs such as legal fees, relocation costs or support for family/dependants.
We are aware AI has been used by some applicants to produce statements for their scholarship applications. Please be advised these applications are often unsuccessful. Any personal statement submitted needs to be written by you, to demonstrate your suitability for the scholarship.
