Collection description

Students of nineteenth- and twentieth-century literature will find the Hardman Collection of Press-Cuttings a useful resource for printed secondary material. Collected by David Hardman (one-time Parliamentary Secretary of the Cassel Educational Trust) between 1925 and 1980, the 20-box collection consists of book reviews and journal articles on a range of literary subjects, alphabetically ordered by author. Among the many writers covered are Jane Austen, T S Eliot, Wyndham Lewis, the Sitwells and Virginia Woolf. There are also files of cuttings grouped according to theme; these include ‘American writers’, ‘Art & the censor’ and ‘Poets of the 30s’. A guide to the Collection is included in the first box.
