Module Outline

This module builds from the skills developed in ‘Analysing Media, Film and Music’. It adopts a thematic approach to explore concepts and subjects such as representation, ritual, protest and voice. Armed with the analytical toolkit you developed in the autumn semester, you will demonstrate your understanding and engagement, as well as your critical and creative thinking skills, through a variety of music, media and film-making practices.

Module learning outcomes

Understand and apply a basic critical framework to draw comparisons and make connections between specific media, film and music case studies.

Demonstrate an ability to independently identify and apply appropriate critical theory as it relates to media, film and music.

Apply appropriate academic skills to plan and create a well-structured critical audio/visual submission.
