Module Outline
The main objective of this module is to provide students with fundamental knowledge in both material and thermodynamics that are related to their engineering disciplines. At the end of the module, students should aware of the importance of the relationships between product design, material properties, and manufacturing processes, be able to apply thermodynamic principles to a wide range of engineering problems and be able to assess their results to determine the limits and merits of different systems and processes. Teaching methods used in the module are lectures, labs, and workshops. Not only to cover the theoretical content but also aim to provide a platform for in-depth discussion about the fundamental concepts and enhance students’ hands-on experience and practical skills.
Module learning outcomes
Have knowledge of fundamental theories and concepts in, and principles of, thermodynamics.
Demonstrate an understanding of the underlying principles and concepts of the relation between material properties and design.
Have knowledge and experience of the basic principles of manufacturing processes for microelectronic devices.
