Do you want to make the Sussex curriculum more sustainable? Join your fellow students in helping us to audit the current curriculum for its sustainability credentials between now and July.
The Sustainability Team is looking for Sussex students to temporarily join them as Student Sustainability Auditors 07 June – 14 July, in partnership with .
This role is open to all students and is an opportunity to learn about the role of education in sustainable development.
What is the role?
Student Sustainability Auditors will carry out a curriculum audit by assessing modules from the undergraduate and postgraduate curriculums. They will explore how modules embed or progress the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).
Students do not need prior experience as they will receive training from SOS-UK to learn everything they need to do and will be supported to develop skills in data collection and analysis.
Why are we carrying out a curriculum sustainability audit?
The ÅÝܽ¶ÌÊÓƵ has committed to embedding the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into the curriculum through the Ethical Educators objectives in its Sustainability Strategy.
The findings of the audit will be used to better understand how the curriculum at the University is supporting students to help shape more sustainable societies and what can be improved to ensure all students are supported to develop sustainability skills.
Who are Students Organising for Sustainability?
SOS-UK is a student-led education charity focusing on sustainability across all forms of education, from early years to workplace learning. They work alongside students to facilitate, encourage and mentor them to work on sustainability.
SOS-UK believe that sustainability should be present in every subject and every student should be a sustainability student. The University is making use of their SDG Curriculum Mapping programme to assess how we’re achieving this.
